05-17-2026Notes from the PrincipalMrs. Jamie Bescak

Dear Parents,

It’s hard to believe the school year is coming to a close! We are looking forward to the last week of school activities: Our last Monday Morning Courtyard Prayer & Rosary, the I Love to READ Ice Cream Party, 4th grade Night at the Museum, and End-of-Year Celebrations. It is important to remember that all volunteers must be current in Safe Environment Training to volunteer for any school events, including the End-of-Year Celebrations. Most importantly, please join us for our final school Mass on Fri, May 22 at 8:15am — a beautiful way to wrap up the year and begin summer break (Dismissal at 12:30pm).

Dear Parents,

Please join us today at 2:00pm for the Annual Birdies "FORE" Bosco Golf Tournament, followed by the End-of-Year Bosco Bash ("after-party dinner") at 6:00 PM at Whirlwind Golf Club.

This event is more than just a golf tournament — it's a celebration for the entire SJB community! After the exciting golf scramble, everyone is invited to the banquet room for the Bosco Bash, a fun-filled gathering for parents, grandparents, and community members.  All proceeds from today’s event will go toward updating our basketball courts, restrooms, and more. Let’s come together to celebrate another successful year at St. John Bosco and finish the school year with great swing and spirit!

Dear Parents,

As we prepare to enter Holy Week, beginning Palm Sunday on March 29, we will reflect on the profound journey of Christ’s passion, death, and resurrection.

Throughout the week, our students will prayerfully observe Holy Week through several meaningful Lenten activities across campus. Classes will participate in Stations of the Cross, many of which will be thoughtfully prepared and led by our teachers and students. On Thursday morning, our 6th grade students will present a special performance of The Passion of Christ, helping our school community reflect more deeply on the meaning of this sacred time. Following the presentation, all homeroom classes will participate in Lenten Retreats, providing students with time for prayer, reflection, and spiritual preparation for Easter.

Dear Parents,

I am very pleased to announce exciting “Best of Ahwatukee” news. For the third time, St. John Bosco took top honors for Best Preschool. Preschool Director Krissy Bileski continues to attract the community's attention for her devotion to our loving, faith-filled school of young learners.

I am also very humbled to accept the honor of Best Leader/Principal for the 2nd consecutive year. Your confidence in me as principal of this wonderful Catholic school is beyond words, and your continued support is truly touching.

Dear Parents,

Partnering with parents is essential to fulfilling the mission of St. John Bosco as we educate the whole child — academically, socially, and spiritually. Meeting in person to have meaningful conversations about how to best support each child is a vital part of this partnership. A sincere thank you to everyone who participated in our Spring Parent-Teacher Conferences. These conversations provided a valuable opportunity to work together closely and ensure we are meeting the needs of every student. With just three months left in the school year, we look forward to continuing this journey of learning, growth, and joy as we finish the year “Bulldog strong!”

Dear Parents,

Report cards will be emailed today by 5:00 PM. Parent-teacher conferences are scheduled for February 11, 12, and 13, with 12:30pm early dismissal on all three days. Please plan for prompt pickup or register with Innovation Learning for aftercare, so teachers may begin conferences on time.

As we enter the 3rd trimester, I want to thank families for your continued support of punctuality and regular attendance. Arriving on time allows students to fully participate in morning prayer, announcements, and the opening lessons that set the tone for the day. Tardiness disrupts learning for both the student and the class, while consistent attendance supports academic and spiritual growth.
