February 25

02-25-2022Notes from the PrincipalMrs. Jamie Bescak

We are looking forward to seeing you at the Gala tomorrow! This is a night of fun for parents and friends, all while supporting the children. Even if you are unable to attend, please sign up for the tuition raffle and bid remotely on some terrific prizes in our silent auction!

The students had fun celebrating the joy of readin this week and, of course, adorning their school uniforms with Dr. Seuss apparel. Hopefully, you will notice an uptick in your child’s reading enjoyment as they discover the power of books to transport and/or inform their inquisitive minds.

Lent begins next week. This year our Kindergarten classes will lead the SJB tradition of burying the Alleluia Banner. Every year on Mardi Gras, the entire staff and student body comes together in our courtyard to witness the “banner-burying” and to bury their own Lenten commitments. The burying of the banner ushers in the season of Lent when we refrain from saying the word "Alleluia." This event takes place next Tuesday, March 1 at 2:30pm. Parents are warmly invited to attend.

All K - 8th-grade students will attend Ash Wednesday Mass at 9:00am in the MPR. As such, please, no spirit wear today; Mass uniforms are required. As always, families are encouraged to join us for Mass.

Thank you to all who have filled out the Parent Survey! If you have not had a chance, there's still time. We value honest feedback from our parents, faculty, staff, and students regarding their experience at St. John Bosco, so I kindly ask all parents to take a few minutes to fill out the Parent Survey by March 1.

Lastly, it’s hard to believe that spring break is upon us. Spring break extends from Friday, March 4 through Friday, March 11. Teachers have a Diocesan In-Service on  Friday, March 11. School will resume Monday, March 14. The next Bulldog Bite and teachers' newsletters will be emailed on March 18. I hope you all have a safe and refreshing spring break!

Joyful blessings,
Jamie Bescak, Principal
