Dear Parents,

Today we concluded a busy week of the Iowa Test of Basic Skills (ITBS). Thank you all for your support and to our PTO for their generous donations of healthy snacks to nourish the students as they worked hard on the ITBS.

I can’t believe we are halfway through our 3rd trimester! Kindergarten–8th-grade parents will be emailed their child’s progress report this evening. As always, please don’t hesitate to contact your child’s teacher with any questions or concerns.

Dear Parents,

For the first time ever, a team of SJB students competed virtually in the National Catholic Academic Junior High Decathlon. This one-day competition for Catholic school students in Grades 6–8 is designed to showcase their knowledge of fine arts, science, math, literature, Catholic doctrine, and more. Our SJB team included sixth grader Jorge Rodriguez and seventh graders Sophia Bernardez, Celine Salloum, Theresa Gove, and Harmony Rodriguez.

Dear Parents,

I am so incredibly proud to announce that 7th grader Sophia Bernardez won 1st place in the Diocesean Science Fair with her project entitled “Mighty Tiny Masked Heros—MealWorms and Face Masks.” Sophia will now move on to the Arizona Science and Engineering Fair on March 30th. This is an opportunity for Sophia to showcase her amazing work, compete for thousands of dollars in prizes, and the opportunity to move on to the Regeneron International Science and Engineering Fair (RISEF). Please join me in praying for her success as she represents the Diocese of Phoenix Catholic Schools.
