09-16-2022Notes from the PrincipalMrs. Jamie Bescak

Dear Parents,

Did you know that our STEM Lab is one-of-a-kind? Our school is one of the only schools around with:

  • Nine 3D printers
  • A green screen
  • Advanced audiovisual equipment
  • Brand new Sphero programmable robots with a charging suitcase to allow use at our STEM lab or mobilized and brought to other classrooms.
  • Thousands of Legos!
  • Bins and shelves holding all sorts of craft materials (glue guns, tape, paper, cardboard, toilet tissue/paper towel rolls, etc.)
  • A Makerspace — a large open area allowing students to build and create

Our unique STEM program incorporates the incredible tools and resources listed above in our curriculum. Students are taught to utilize the tools and skills they learn in STEM and apply it to the other subjects they are learning. Our state-of-the-art STEM program enhances the standards in all subjects across the curriculum and challenges our students to grow beyond customary expectations.

Our preschool–5th-grade students will experience at least one STEM lesson a month in our state-of-the-art STEM lab. Our littlest learners will begin using various tools and resources and will be coached by their teachers to focus on critical thinking skills and utilize the knowledge from all their subjects to accomplish tasks and projects. By the time they reach 6th grade they will be prepared for our rigorous 2-day-a-week STEM class and able to independently follow the engineering design process.  Along with project-based learning, students work together in groups to learn valuable social and communication skills to prepare them for future vocations.

All 5th–8th-grade students are encouraged to join our after-school AV Club. This also takes place in our STEM Lab every Tuesday and Thursday where they have an opportunity to create and produce school announcements, participate in eSports, drone racing, and more. Stop by after school any Tuesday or Thursday to check out our incredible STEM program that sets us apart!

Joyful Blessings,
Jamie Bescak, M.Ed., Principal
