Anne Feeney, RN  and  Shari Scott, RN  staff  the health office.

We will be working together for the health and safety of your children!

We welcome you to the 2009-2010 school year. We will be doing a school-wide health screening in November. This will include height, weight, blood pressure, vision, and some students will have their scoliosis checks. If you are interested in helping call or e-mail the Health Office. Students in Pre-K, K, 1, 2 and 6 as well as all new students will also have a hearing screen.  It is often remarkable to see how much they have grown.

Remember that we can only have special treats at school for class parties that are agreed upon by the teacher.  No "unhealthy" birthday treats, junk food, soda,or monster drinks.

It is imperative that we can be well informed of all student's health needs, and immediately get a hold of you if your child is ill or injured at school. Please make sure your phone numbers are current and contact the office if you make any changes. Also, we cannot release any student to anyone not listed on their emergency card. Please update as needed.

When your child is going to be absent from school, it is necessary that you call in each day of the absence by 8:15am. In addition, please call us if you will be late for school. If your student is late for school because of a Dentist or Doctors appointment, please make sure they have a note from your health care provider so it may count as an excused tardy. Even if you inform your teacher(s), please give the Health Office a call at 480-219-4849 to report the absence. The Health Office is responsible for the attendance, and it is disruptive to call each teacher when it is unclear why the student is not in school. You may also report future absences to our office.

FLU SEASON

We need every one to be aware of signs and symptoms of swine flu and regular flu to stay home if they suspect they are illSymptoms include fever, severe aches and pains, tired,  headache and chest discomfort and a nonproductive cough.  We are strongly recommending getting both the N1H1 flu shot as well as the regular flu shot.  It is not uncommon for it to last 7 or more days.

Please make sure your student comes to school with a water bottle, applied sun screen everyday and having eaten a healthy breakfast. We are looking forward to a happy and healthy school year!
