Oraciones (Prayers)
The Spanish curriculum at all Diocesan schools is designed to provide an introduction to the language and to foster enthusiasm for the study of World Languages (Cissy Frakes, Diocese of Phoenix). At St. John Bosco, we are furtunate enough to have Spanish taught to 5th graders 3 days a week, and 6th through 8th graders 4 days a week.
Oraciones (Prayers)
Please look for the "audio prayers" section of this webpage to hear the Spanish prayers. It will be updated with all of the prayers within the next couple weeks.
There will be several prayers throughout the year that we will memorize and then take an as oral test. Students practice and memorize the test and then come to my desk on the test date to recite the prayer. The grade is given based on the number of words in the prayers. All tests are 100 possible points.
Before and after each prayer we recite together, we say "El señal de la cruz" The sign of the cross.
El SEÑAL DE LA CRUZ (Sign of the Cross)
En el nombre del Padre, del Hijo, y del Espíritu Santo. Amén
1) read it to yourself
2) say it aloud
3) Write each work on a note card and put the prayer together. You can start with one sentence at first and then progressively make it harder until the entire prayer is memorized.
4) record it and play it back trying to recite it by memory with the recorded version
5) Come up with your own original idea! Don't procrastinate. Get started right now.
