Battle of the Books
This year, Saint John Bosco School will be participating in the Chandler Public Library’s Battle of the Books.
Battle of the Books is a reading competition hosted by the City of Chandler Librarians. SJB participants will be grouped in teams of two or three. They will be given three book lists, one for each of the competitions. Competitions are held in November, January, and in April. During the competitions, each team will be given challenging comprehension questions. Teams will have time to collaborate, and the designated spokesperson will provide the answer. Points will be awarded based on the answers given. After the April competition, the team with the most points will compete with the winning teams from the Public and Private schools in the Chandler area.
Student participants will read and train on their own time, and parents will be needed to coach teams. This is a great opportunity to gain SJB volunteer hours, by writing questions for each book and reporting the team’s progress to Mrs. Harvey.
