Mrs. McCormick's Kinder Update
This week we completed:
In Morning Calendar we said the days and months in Spanish. We also learned the "blue" song.
“BLUE”
(To the tune of “The Farmer in the Dell”)
B-L-U-E, spells blue!
B-L-U-E, spells blue!
Hi Ho, did you know?
B-L-U-E, spells blue!
The big sky is blue!
The ocean is too!
Hi Ho, did you know?
B-L-U-E, spells blue!
In Math we worked in our workbooks on the vocab words alike and different. We learned about sorting attributes and one to one correspondence. We also did eye color graphing. We sorted the whole class in three columns, green, brown and blue. We then got to graph which eye color had more and less.
In Social Studies we continued to learn all about me and read "I'm Gonna Like Me" and discussed how we are different. We also practiced our "I Like Me" chant.
In Reading we reviewed our nursery rhymes. We sequenced the story of Little Red Riding Hood. We read the story of Little Boy Blue and talked about the characters and settings in a story. We worked on writing the letters Cc, Dd, Ee, Ff, Gg and Hh in our workbooks. We watched the video "Is Your Mama A Llama?" and discussed all the rhyming words we heard. We read "The Little Engine That Could" and drew a picture of something that we wanted to learn.
In Handwriting we started working in our workbooks on tracing and learned the positional words. Practiced writing from left to right.
In DWP we reviewed the Reason for Rules. We read "David Goes to School" and "David Gets in Trouble". The children illustrated their favorite part of the two stories in journal and tried to write about what they drew.
In Religion we colored creation cards and made a pocket for them that said "God Made All That Is Good". We illustrated Day 3, 4, 5, 6 and 7 for our creation books. We reminded the students about proper Mass behavior.

Mrs. McCormick's Kinder Update
We had a wonderful first few days of Kindergarten. Through our gradual entry I was able to get to know the students in a small group each day and become familiar with their names and personalities. We are working on learning our daily routine, class rules and procedures as well as the DWP (Discipline with Purpose) skills. We were also able to make some new friends and share about ourselves. We will continue to learn about each other in our first unit, "All about ME".
On the first day of class we toured the campus and met all of the teachers. Today the "Gingerbread Man" had us chasing after him as he was visiting our campus. He left notes for us in the technology lab, library, nurses office, front office, music and the art room. We finally caught up to him back in our classroom where he left us some treats. We also read the story of "The Kissing Hand".
