First grade homework will consist of 10-20 minutes of reading each night along with ten minutes of Math and/or Spelling. On Monday, a homework assignment sheet will be sent home in your child's homework folder. The assignment sheet will give you the homework for each night of the week. Completed homework will be turned in each morning in the homework folder. It is very important to instill good work habits at this young age. Please help your child to get his/her work turned in on time. If an emergency comes up, let me know and send in the completed homework as soon as possible.
The homework that I assign will reinforce what we have learned in school and should not frustrate your child. Please help your child read the directions for the first few months, as most first graders are beginning readers. Remember, the homework folder will go home and be returned to school EVERY DAY with your child.
