First grade homework will consist of 10-20 minutes of reading each night along with a total of ten minutes of Math and/or Spelling. Each night a homework assignment will be sent home in your child's homework folder. The homework is to be completed and turned in the day after it is assigned. It is important to instill good work habits at a young age. Please help your child to get his/her work turned in on time. If an emergency comes up, let me know and send in the completed homework as soon as possible.
The homework that I assign will reinforce what we have learned in school and should not frustrate your child. Please help your child read the directions for the first few months, as most first graders are beginning readers. Remember, the homework folder should go home and return to school EVERY DAY with your child.
